Who we are
This policy explains what Justin J. Moore Music Ltd. ("we", "us"), of 270 Hwy 33, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, collects about you when you visit justinjmoore.com, join our waitlist or buy from us, why, who else receives it, and how long it is kept.
The person responsible for personal information here is Justin J. Moore, director. Write to hello@justinjmoore.com about anything in this policy.
What we collect while you look around
Until you press the button to pay, we do not record who you are. The cookies that can be set while you look around are listed under Cookies, with when each one is set.
- We count which of our pages are viewed, without anything that identifies you.
- To tell a returning visitor from a new one in those counts, our site sets the
ffc_visitorcookie, holding a random code and nothing else. If you are in the EU, the UK, Switzerland or Quebec, we ask first and set it only if you say yes; your answer is remembered in theffc_consentcookie. You can change your answer at any time from "Privacy choices" at the bottom of every page. - Like every website, our host receives your IP address with each request your browser makes, to deliver the page.
- Our checkout and offer pages load Stripe's payment form, which receives information about your device and browser, and sets Stripe's own cookies, to detect fraud (see Cookies).
- Our pages load their typeface from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which receive your IP address.
What we collect when you press pay
When you press the button to pay, before your payment goes through, we record:
- Your email address, so we can deliver what you bought and contact you about your order.
- Your first and last name, if you give them.
- How you found us: the address of the page you arrived on, the website that sent you, and any marketing tags in that address (such as
utm_sourceorutm_campaign, and advertising click codes from Google or Meta), so we can tell which of our marketing works. - That you agreed to our terms, which version, and when.
We also set one cookie, owncart_session, holding a random code and nothing else, so our site can tell your checkout apart from anybody else's.
We never see your card details. You type them into a form provided by our payment processor, Stripe, and they go straight to Stripe.
What we keep when you buy
Your order: what you bought, what you paid, when, and a copy of how you found us, as listed above. Each offer you accept after your purchase is part of your order. Which offers you declined is kept with the record of your visit, not with your order.
If you join our waitlist
If you join the waitlist for something we have not launched yet, we keep your email address, your first name if you give it, the exact words beside the box you ticked and when you ticked it, whether you confirmed your address, and, if a partner's link brought you, that partner's code. We use them only to email you about the launch and about what the box says, until you unsubscribe. Every email about the launch has an unsubscribe link. The one email that does not is the one asking you to confirm your address, if we send it: if you do not press its button, you are not on the list. Joining again does not undo an unsubscribe.
After you join, we may ask you one optional question about what brought you to the waitlist. Your answer is kept on its own, with the date, and is never linked to your email address or anything else that identifies you. Please do not include personal details you would not want us to read.
Who else receives it
We use these companies to run our checkout. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
- Stripe takes your payment. It also saves your card, as our terms explain, so that you can add an offer with one click. When you press the button to pay, Stripe creates a customer record holding your email address, and your name and phone number if you gave them, even if you do not finish paying. Stripe also receives your payment details, what you are paying for, our internal reference for your checkout, and the
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaignandutm_contenttags from the address you arrived on. Stripe may email you its own payment receipt. Stripe is also responsible for its own use of payment data, under its own privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy - Vercel hosts our website, so it handles every request your browser makes to it.
- Neon hosts our database, which stores everything listed above.
We do not sell your personal information.
Where it is stored
Our website and database run on servers in the United States (Virginia, near Washington, D.C.). If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred there.
Cookies
| Cookie | Set by | When | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
ffc_visitor | Us | On our pages, outside the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec; inside them only if you say yes | Telling a returning visitor from a new one in our page counts. Holds a random code. Lasts up to 180 days |
ffc_consent | Us | If we ask first where you are, and you answer | Remembering your answer, so we do not ask again |
owncart_session | Us | When you press the button to pay | Telling your checkout apart from other people's. Needed for the checkout to work |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe | On our checkout and offer pages | Preventing fraud. Part of Stripe's payment form |
How long we keep it
- If you press the button to pay but do not buy, what we recorded is deleted from our database about 90 days after your checkout expires, which is a day after you started it, once that month's visits have been added up into totals that identify nobody. The customer record Stripe created is not deleted automatically. Write to hello@justinjmoore.com and we will have it deleted.
- The count of pages viewed is deleted after 90 days, once it has been added up into monthly totals that identify nobody.
- If you buy, your order is kept as part of our business records. We do not delete orders, so it is kept for as long as our business exists. Ask us at hello@justinjmoore.com if you want to know what we hold about you.
- If you join our waitlist, what you gave is deleted 365 days after you joined. If we asked you to confirm your address and you did not, the confirmation link stops working after a week and the signup is deleted soon after. Unsubscribing stops our emails at once, and if our email-list service has your address, we unsubscribe you there
too. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address and when you unsubscribed, for as long as we run waitlists, so that we never email you again; ask us at hello@justinjmoore.com and we will delete that too.
- Answers to the waitlist question are not deleted automatically. They never include your name or email address.
- What Stripe, and any other company named above, keeps is governed by its own policy.
Why we are allowed to use it
- To deliver what you bought and support your order, because that is our contract with you.
- To keep financial records, because the law requires it.
- To understand which of our marketing works (where you came from, as described above), because it is in our legitimate interest and uses no more than it needs.
- To email you about a launch, only if you joined our waitlist and ticked the box. You can withdraw that consent at any time, with the link in any of those emails.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to move it elsewhere, or to object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of these, write to hello@justinjmoore.com. We will answer within 30 days.
You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Some information, such as order records we must keep by law, cannot be deleted on request until that period ends.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version here with its date.
